Afropolitan Theatre Company
ABOUT
Afropolitan Theatre Company (ATC) originally started out as Afro Cultural Expression (Afro Cu) and was one of four sub-events of the Entrepreneurship and Cultural Pride Expo (ECPE), created by Thandi Phiri. ECPE was an annual expo, whose name later changed to The African Market ECPE, that created a platform for the cultural and creative industry (CCI) in Gaborone, Botswana. Sibongile Phiri, ATC founder, worked under the Expo as a performer, creative workshop facilitator and later in 2015, as it's key organiser and Creative Director. (See more about Sibongile T. Phiri on Our "Founder and Supporters" page) Sibongile went on and registered Afro Cu in 2016 in Lusaka, Zambia as Afropolitan Theatre Company.
ATC provides skills development in Performing arts while presenting professional multidisciplinary, experimental, theatrical productions. While We understand the efficacy of pure theatre, We also understand the many benefits that it provides beyond the stage and confines of the Theatre. As a result, ATC uses Performance Arts as a resource in planning, training and packaging in creative mediums of communication and awareness for more wholesome corporations, teams and individuals. (See Our "Other Services" page to learn more about this.)
