Sibongile went on and registered Afropolitan Theatre Company (ATC), in February 2016, in Lusaka, Zambia – “a performing arts company focused on providing professional training in theatre making and theatrical productions, with Afrika in mind; Programmes for us, by us.” Her passion for both the purity of the process and the finesse of the finished product is what brings a sense of truth and authenticity to her performances and her performers. She is the key facilitator and creative director of ATC. Although Zambian, Sibongile grew up in Botswana and has lived in four different countries. She relocated back to Zambia in November 2015.

Her goal is to make performing arts in Zambia an internationally recognized sector of the country through the collection and showcasing of uniquely made Afrikan stories. Sibongile believes that the act of physical and vocal expression, capturing that expression, interrogating it and playing it back to ourselves, seeing ourselves in the others’ eyes and presenting ourselves before a watcher is extremely vital to our growth not only on an individual level, but on a societal and cultural level . As a result, she believes that every school, every organisation, every business, every home and every space of prayer and worship should make conscious and deliberate efforts to have theatre programmes.
